My son was the same way when he was 7 years old. He was only three feet tall and he would get adrenaline strength and could hurt you as bad as a 6 foot guy. He was diagnosed with ADHD, ADD, OCD and ODD.
You need to be strict with him and keep consistent with 'punishments to fit the crime' Many parents try something for two weeks and then give up and try something else and it only confuses the kid and makes them think they can keep on the way they are because there is no consistency. One of the things that worked best for me when my son would fight with other kids was to hide ALL his toys until he settled down out of the phase which usually lasted a few days. Don't give in to him about going to the store make him stay with somebody that is going to back you up on it and maybe even buy him a little something for staying home. That way he will see it is better to listen to you and stay home. If you take him to the store and he behaves buy him a little something so he sees that he gets treated better for good behavior. Don't make things sound like because you didn't do right you are being punished but go about it more like because you did good you are being rewarded.
Also read up on food allergies two good books are

    The Crazymakers by Carol Simontachhi
And Brain Allergies by Dr Philpott

You should also really consider and check into giving your kids omega fatty acid
