I don't know how your school system does it, but where I work middle school math is done based on where you are and what skills you have. If you are not so good in math you will do the standard math 7 class with a possible resource math class to give you extra assistance. If you are average in math you may just be in a math 7 class with no resource. If you are advanced in math you may take pre-algebra or algebra. It's all based on what you can do. My best advice for more specifics on where you live. Look up your states standards for middle school math. That will tell you EXACTLY what you will be studying. If you are comfortable letting me know what state you are from I will try to search for the standards and provide you a link to those standards. Also what grade does middle school start with where you live?

It is totally normal to be worried, I was too.
-Math is just like it was in elementary school, but just like always, they step it up just a little bit from your last grade-level.
-Math homework is exactly focused to suppliment what you discussed in class, good attention in class = good grades for homework.
-If you start feeling confused or overwhelmed, just talk to your teacher after class is dismissed, they will let you go out late and help you find out the solution to your problem.
-Middle school math is mostly just adding on to what you've done before. If you did easy fractions in, say, 4th grade, then they step the level up a bit and re-teach you again. Simple.
IF THE MATH IS WAY TOO HARD FOR YOU, TELL A STAFF MEMBER SO THEY CAN CONFORM TO YOUR NEEDS THEY ARE THERE TO HELP YOU REACH ACADEMIC Achievement!
