Kitchen sink
I am installing a new double sink in my kitchen. I currently have a garbage disposal which I want to remove completely. I need to find out how to hook the new sink up since I won't have the disposal there. What do I need for pipes and fittings? Also, how do I disconnect/reconnect the diswasher to the new sink? Thank you.

You'll need 2 basket strainers (see picture) and an 1.5" branch tailpiece to connect dishwasher hose to (see other pictures... can be plastic or brass) and an 11/4" SS hose clamp and plumber's putty. Purchase basket strainer(s) that has 1.5" nut (as in my picture)...not the large 3" nut type.. ok? The branch tailpiece connects directly to the basket strainer. You will also need a 1.5" brass or plastic flanged tailpiece to connect to the other strainer (see other picture... look at flanged end). The flanged end connects directly to the other strainer. Then from there you would install an 1.5" desanco fitting to each tailpiece (see last picture) and that will allow you to connect to PVC pipe and fittings from there... see next post so I can post more pictures... |

Then you connect from the tailpieces to something similar to setup in below picture...
These fittings (in picture) are tubular connections and I think you will end up with a better job if you pipe your double sink together using desanco fittings I posted at last post and schedule 40 pvc fittings, pipe, and ptrap Here, you will need 2-1.5" desanco, 1-1.5"sanitary tee, 1-1.5" elbow, 1-1.5" union ptrap (see 2nd pic.), cement and primer, 1.5" pipe, misc. 1.5" fittings (45s, 22.5, street 45s, etc.) and any other fittings you think you may need. Lastly, I posted another picture that should help give you the idea I am talking about...(ignore the inline vent pipe and notes). Your setup would be similar but from the ptrap your piping should go into the wall (or downstairs). You could also use 1/5" tubular plastic fittings... they work fine.. just that best job is done using the PVC pipe, etc. Let me know if all this made sense.. ok? MARK |
