    I want him back!
My boyfriend of 2.5 years broke up with me 2.5 weeks ago and I want him back. I have told him how I feel (that I love him etc) and he said that he still loves and cares for me but he thinks it will be best for both of us if we don't get back together but can still be friends.

Before we broke up we were both getting bored, lazy and complacent but I believe we can spice things up and have a great relationship again - given the chance.

How can I get him back?

I really don't know enough about your relationship, but I think the best thing for you both is to give your ex some time. Getting after him a lot with probably just cause him to shut down. Give him some time to miss you. Time will also reveal more about how you feel.

You can't "get him" back, you can only "get you" back.

You can get back your excited, involved, ambitious self and take her out into the world. You can make something of yourself and your time that isn't solely about yourself, you can find ways to do good in the world and contribute. In short, you can make sure your life is developing along wonderful paths all by itself.

Meanwhile, one of two things will happen... you will find yourself surrounded by and meeting people who value the things you value and you will accidentally find yourself getting involved with a much better "match" for you...

... or your ex will see your confident and exciting life and miss you and want to get back into your life.

    You win either way.

A loving relationship isn't all about passion. When you are in a loving relationship, things will get boring in bed. You can always try new things to keep it a little interesting, but that can't be the foundation of what keeps you two together. What you need is a deep emotional connection. Your partner needs to slowly become your best friend mentally and emotionally. That's what will make a lasting relationship.
