    Pregnancy on period?
OK so my girlfriend and I have been arguing over this for awhile.

She says that she learned in a class that if you have sex on your period with no condom on, it is absolutely 0% chance that you can get pregnant.

I say its not 0% but its still possible.

Can somebody clear this up for me?

Oh, she's lying through her teeth, or I'm REALLY going to start getting ticked off at the sex ed programs in our schools, which would make me have to go down there and start screaming at people for idiocy.

The ONLY, absolute ONLY "0% chance" for getting pregnant is to NOT have your genitals anywhere near each others'.

She's either misinformed (which, given the stupid abstinence based programs in our schools, is absolutely possible), lying through her teeth for some reason unknown to her, or she's trying to trap you.

PS... I got pregnant at 16 using a condom, the birth control pill, and a spermicide. Regardless what she tells you about her birth control, you should keep wearing the condom until you're ready for kids.

Yeah I don't think she was listening in class or something

And while were on the subject... can someone tell me the safest condoms to use

I used to use the "Trojan: Twisted Pleasure" but I haven't anymore because she almost got pregnant with those kind. So I don't feel safe with those.

It is not the most likely time to get pregnant, but it can happen. If she happens to ovulate very early in a cycle, the sperm can be present when the egg is released. Sperm will only survive in the conditions that are present right before ovulation, and most only for 2-3 days even then... otherwise they die off fairly quickly.

ALMOST got pregnant? Is that like "kind of" pregnant?

Get a condom with spermicide. It doesn't really matter which kind, so far as I know, but the spermicide will lower the chances even further.

And tell her to get her butt on the pill.

Yeah... I'm going with synnen on "ALMOST" pregnant.. . what? I'm assuming the condom broke... or... something?

My personal favorite is by Bare Pleasure. Remember to use it properly. It seems stupid, but you have no idea how many kids really don't know how to use a condom properly.

And "almost" means that she thought she was pregnant for like 3 weeks. She took one test and it said it was positive. She took 2 more after that and it said it was negative

She is 16, shouldn't safe protected sex be what chu all want? Why would u want to risk having a baby? Trust me being a teen mother isn't no cake walk, she can go to a plan parent hood and get birthcontrol, without her mother, and she just needs to sit down and talk to her mother about sex since she is so undereducated in it, and if I where u two I would have sex until she got birthcontrol, and make sure u still use a condom

If she had a positive result I would get a blood test. I have heard of false negative but a false positive?

Has she missed a period? If she took the first test accurately, and got a positive result, it is quite possible she either is pregnant or was pregnant. Rarely do you get a false positive, in most cases it will only occur when someone is using certain fertility meds. They have to be used and read according to the directions however... especially the time limit for reading the results. Reading it after the time allotted can give a false result.
It can happen that a pregnancy will occur, and a positive result is read, only to become negative later as the pregnancy didn't take.

If it was not the norm for her, might be wise for her to try another pregnancy test just to be sure. If her next period is absent or off again, would be wise to see her doctor at that point. Certaintly use protection every single time if you are going to continue to have sex. Remember too, that with condoms they need to be put on BEFORE you get too far... not after some penetration and just before you are about to ejaculate as far too many people do. There can be sperm in the semen that is present just from being aroused.
