First I would like to say that I live in canada.

My mother moved in with my brother and his wife aprox, 3 years ago.
At first it was fine.
She was suppose to pay 300 a month rent.
Shortly later it changed that she would buy the groceries instead of paying rent.
I have had access to her bank account for the last 10 years as I would pay her bills for her (with her permission) prior to her moving in with them.
I would always take care of her house and lawn and everything she needed or wanted I would get for her and take her where she wanted to go. One day I showed up at her house and sudenly there was a for sale sign in front of her house. I was 100 %shocked.
She sold her house and the money was deposited in her account.
She was diagnosed with alzimers disease about 2 years ago.
As her condition has worsened I started to see large amounts of cash being withdrawn from her account very often.
And have seen that they have boughten a lot of new things in the last 2 years.
Like a new car , a new van, new siding on the house new windows and doors , new driveway paving, new kitchen, new bathroom, new roof, new deck, new swimming pool twice, the list goes on and on.
I have totaled the amount taken from her account to be over $ 156000 dollars over the last 2 years.
What excactly can I do about this ?
Without having to have to deplete my own bank account in lawer fees.
I have reported it to the police 4 months ago and suplied them with print outs of her bank account to show how large ammounts of cash being withdrawn .
Like 4000 at a time.
Also as fast as her old age pension is deposted in it is withdrawn the same day.
Her account is getting near empty now and think that they will put her in a home when it is all gone. Or they will keep her around just to get her old age pension from her every month.
I never get to see my mother either.
On Christmas eve I got to see my mother for 20 min.
They dropped her off and I expected her to be here for a couple hours.
They came back 20 min later and took her away.
Anyway can anyone advise me to what I should do?
Who can I call to report this to who will actually do something about it?
I don't want to have to depleat my own account .

Unless your mother is unable to handle her own finances she is (unfortunately) presumed to be allowing this financial abuse to occur. In order to safeguard her funds you would have to obtain a Court Order declaring her incompetent and have someone appointed to handle her funds. Because she has diagnosed Alzheimers I would contact the Office for the Elderly in the area where you live or make an appointment with an Attorney who specializes in Elder Law and ask for advice.

Her personal Physician could be very helpful to you.

There are many offices which offer help to people in your same situation in Canada. What Province are you in?

As far as visiting with her, aren't you allowed to visit where she lives? Is she being kept away from the family? Are there signs of other abuse - physical, emotional?

The only one that is aloud to visit is my daughter but she is always told to go play with their daughter and to stay away from grandma,

Then you have to contact an elder abuse hotline NOW and your daughter will have to state what she has witnessed.

This is far more than financial abuse - this is physical abuse.
