    PC troubles
I have had problems with my computer for quite some time now, and was wanting to know how to wipe out my p.c. and start fresh. I have had some malware viruses and I have gotten rid of them and keep getting them back. I have had people work on my PC and am tired of having to pay to get it fixed. So I just want to wipe it out and start fresh. Maybe it will run faster too.

Is your computer a big brand name? Most computers come with recovery CDs or hidden recovery partitions on the computer itself. Both are designed to restore a computer pack to its pristine condition, the day you unboxed it from the store.

What is the exact make and model #? For instance, my laptop is an HP Pavilion dv5234ea (I read this off the white tag on the bottom of the computer).

First, let's see if your system has a recover partition.

    • Open My Computer
    • Do you see a C: and a D: drive, or just a C: ?
    • If you have a D: drive, does it have a name?
    • When you try to open it, what happens?

Also, what sort of problems are you having. Vista is the most memory hoggish of all Microsoft's OSs. If you have 1 gig, you should seriously consider upgrading the RAM. These laptops come with 2 slots, usually 1 chip in w/1 gig on it. Another 1 gig would run you about $25 and be a signicant performance boost.

    I have a c and d drive. The d drive is my dvd/cd rom
I have had problems with virus after virus since the day I bought it, and it runs so slowly, I just figured if I wiped out all the programs I've put on here and start back at the basics it will run better, that and I have been having a problem with my IE and java. I can't run anything in IE because it says I need to update my flashplayer or java and I have done both, I have downloaded another web browser but I liked IE better.

The easiest way is you should format your computer by using recovery software.

If you have recovery CDs , you put it in your CD or DVD Rom and restart.

Recovery will be automatically appear when the computer is start or read their instruction and follow their instruction like press any key to boot from cd..

    Thanks

Load the recovery disk into the computer so that it will reformat the hard drive and install a fresh copy of the operating system.
