It looks like the leak is from the toilet, you may need to replace you wax with a thicker one, Good luck.

I bet they didn't raise the flange when you had the tile put in or they used the old wax ring. Shut off water, disconnect water supply line, flush toilet to get rid of water in the tank, take the screws off at base of tank. Pull toilet off and remove old wax ring (wax and round plastic piece). Buy the thickest wax ring at your home improvement store and install. Very easy for you to do yourself. Don't waste your money hiring someone. Also, don't over tighten the bolts at the base of the toilet when putting it back on... you can break it if your not careful.

    Hi Kay:

Like these guys suggested.. it sounds like the toilet was installed incorrectly!

Did you have a plumber install the toilet or did the tile guy take care of it for you?

If plumber did the work then you need to call him back and have him correct this ASAP.

If tile guy did it then maybe that you can do this yourself as Nick suggested above or maybe that you need to call a plumber and have them look at this for you.

Either way let us know... ok? If doing it yourself you may want to install a thicker wax ring (as suggested) or you may want to use an extension kit to bring closet flange flush or above the new tile floor (see picture below for extension kit) if necessary. If flange flush or above floor then was just installed improperly and hopefully is an easy fix!

We are glad to consult/advise where we can.

My toilet is leaking. Excuse my lack of technical terms... but the water is dripping from the top of the pan (where the water comes from when it is flushed) and it is dripping down the back in to the water in the pan. It does it consistently apart from for a really short while after it has been...

Toilet leak [ 4 Answers ]

My plumber has set our new toilet 3 times, but it still leaks around the floor. I marked the water level in the bowl, and overnight the level lowered and water was on the floor even though it had not been flushed. Is it a problem with the wax seal or the toilet? Thanks.
