Just bought "Grandfather" home in Dec, 2008. Young man which occupied 1/2 of the basement component (separate entrance) was allowed to stay. Seller informed us of tenants good status, stating tenant worked nights. We worked during the day, and hardly saw the fella. Turns out fella was a coke dealer! He was arrested, and police ransacked the separate living quarters of the man. They found enough evidence in the to put him away for some time. A mild search of our home (the main floor) and OTHER side of the basement was conducted. The police were very apologetic, and careful in our part of the home. Police apologized to my family... citing that the young man presented himself to us as "good" while he was really into some bad things.

Ugh!

Local news (tv, print, and internet) featured photos of our house with the full street address. Citing "the home of [name of man] at [address] was searched where was found [blah, blah, blah]".

EVERYONE, including the arresting officers, knew we had nothing to do with this guys lifestyle.

The filming of our home was done the DAY AFTER THE ARREST. Even the videos show his personal items on the street as his residency is OVER. CAN THE MEDIA DO THIS WITHOUT PENALTY? As this is NO LONGER his place of residence.

Yes, under freedom of the press. Unless they specifically state he still resides there, they are free to do this.

Yes, they can, this was where he lived, this was where the drugs were found. So there is nothing untrue in the story.

Unfortunately you are the one still living at this now "tainted" address and there is nothing you can do about this as the "bad guy" is no longer there. Some times good people suffer due to the actions of bad people.
