What is going on with my body? Brown discharge.
Hello.
I will try to keep this as short and to the point as possible.
In June, I had a normal (albiet heavy) period starting on the 11th. This month, starting on the 2nd, I started getting brown discharge. It was thick, and "clumpy." On the 9th, it turned to blood, and I had a week long period, ending on the 15th.
Since the whole thing lasted about 2 weeks, I went to the doctor on the 18th. She didn't even examine me. She chalked it up to stress (my husband is deployed) and said that sometimes these things happen. And that I was completely normal and healthy.
Fast forward to yesterday (the 26th) where I have started having brown discharge AGAIN! Only 11 days after my "period" ended. I have had no cramps, and the color of the discharge is more tan and pink then dark like it was last time. I have no idea what is going on with me.
My periods have always been regular and normal. And I had no problem concieving, or delivering my 20 month old. The last time I had sex was at the end of May, and I had a normal period in June, so I am not pregnant.
I plan on probably going back to the doctor if it continues, but would love to hear what other's have to say. I have been getting either "you are completely fine" or "you have this horrible disease" remarks from friends and family I have asked.
And advice would be appreicated. I have been stressed about this all month!

Since it is off again this month, she will (and should) do an internal exam to take a look. She may do a ultrasound to see what the lining of the uterus looks like. Sometimes there can be a thickening which may cause unusual bleeding. Even though your husband is not deployed, had you been on birth control pills... or any other hormonal birth control? For some women, this can cause unusual bleeding/spotting as well.
What, if anything, is noticed will help her to decide whether it is anything that may need some treatment.

Nope, no birth control. Not in about 3 years. Also, my husband gets a two week leave in December, so we hope to try for another baby during that time. Therefore, I *really* don't want to get on any type of birth control.
If there is thickening of the uterus, what happens? Is is dangerous?

There can be thickening for a variety of reasons... simple polyps, fibroids, hormone changes, etc. They may have you do some blood work as well to check hormone and thyroid possibilities. They will also probably do a pap smear to check for any unusual cells.
It may not be a thickening at all, just one of the possible reasons for bleeding that is not the norm for you.
IF it is due to a thickening, she may discuss the possibility of doing a D & C which can also help to determine if there is anything going on or not.
Just speculation... really will have to see what your doctor decides is necessary.

Everything just sounds so scary... polyps, fibroids... yikes.
I plan on calling and making an appoinment for this week. Thanks for your answers. Hopefully it's just my cycle being wacky, and will sort it's self out soon...
