Than most after my breakup. If you've read some of my earlier posts about my breakup- you'd know that there's a lot of things I regret not doing with my ex while we were together. The biggest regret was taking her to my thinking spot and watching the sunset- it was a huge thing I wanted to do with her and I never got a chance before we separated. Anyway- I thought I was good enough to head up there to chill and think. Once up there- I took out my iPod put it on shuffle and watched the sunset. The first song that came on- "i want you back" by "the kooks" needless to say that led me to think about her and now I'm feeling seriously lonely and realizing just how much I miss her and how much I do want her back. I managed to bury the feelings for a while, but this was just too much. I've tried everything to forget about her tonight but it just keeps flooding back. I just miss what we had together. If only she had gone to UC Davis or Sac State this wouldn't be happening. The world's a funny place, eh? You never know how it's going to turn out. I know I have to move on and I have in many ways. This is just a big hiccup in my happiness. Any suggestions?

Eliminate that song for now. Later, the feelings won't be so strong. It might be a good idea to scope out a new thinking spot, one that you can associate with being single.

Change the song selection in your iPod, and instead of going to your spot alone, invite a friend.

I feel the same. I had so many plans that we didn't get to do. I guess we just make sure our next gf's get to experience them.

I like all those ideas! You never really notice how many songs on your iPod are about relationships until you aren't in one LOL

Tell me about it. I've never really thought about the lyrics in songs that much until now.

"Hard Habit To Break" by Chicago is my current song.

I always find that a good way to move on is to go out casually with someone else. Maybe someone that you're even the slightest bit interested in. It's not meant to be sexual or anything, just someone to get your mind off that person...

Get some better music on your IPOD, think about the things that led to the break up and you will get better in time... Read the stickies on the forum

Hello Andrew916-
I know the exact feelings your are going through right now.. I am going to the same thing. I have dwelled on the past, imagined a perfect life with the person I loved but reality is life and people aren't a perfect fit for what we want in our minds. I come to realize that as hard as it is to get through this it is getting easier everyday with time. What I suggest is to delete any songs that remind you of her. Songs can be really intense as they trigger something in the brain that brings you back to a feeling you may have had with that person. This will then bring back those comforting feelings you once had and make you forget what NEEDS to happen. I totally understand and I am so sorry.. why can't life be what we want as much as we try? I don't know.. I am trying to find the answer for myself as well. But know this, things happen for a reason.. people come into your life for reason... all experiences are a lesson to be learned as tough as it is. The grass will be greener soon and you (and me) have to BELIEVE this.

I can give you a list of bands that I can put money on, that won't let you remember your ex. Or if it does, you will get angry over the situation
