If someone is awarded a sum of money by a court due to a personal injury, is this monetary award taxable and/or attachable by creditors?

I don't know about taxable but if you get a cheque and don't cash it, then they can't get it, but if it is deposited right in the bank, its fair game.

It was an answer nonetheless. I was honest, didn't know about taxable, but as I said, if you don't deposit the cheque you receive into you bank account, then they can't attach it, but if it is in the bank, they don't know where the money came from, it is in your bank account.

Now what don't you understand about that answer, and I take exception to your 'moronic' comment; you can explain that a little further if you don't mind and apologize for your unnecessary comment.

Tickle had a point. You are asking people to provide expert advice FOR FREE. The least you can do is to be civil.

As for the taxability, the award is probably at least partially taxable. The part of the award that is compensation for personal injury is tax-free.

However, the part of the award that replaces lost income or loss wages, and the part that is punitive in nature ARE subject to income taxes in the U.S.

I would suggest that you read the rules for posting.

I don't know if you're a student and the board is doing your homework or exactly what your situation is but you post the same question 4 and 5 times, get answers. You have asked questions all over the board about everything under the sun.

Maybe you have a very complicated life or maybe you should get a hobby.

And you are calling other people morons?

And what happened to your brother, the Attorney, that you were quoting until he was incorrect 2 out of 3 times - ? One minute you're a businessman, the next minute you're in bankruptcy.

Something is most definitely not right here -
