    Smell from a sink
We seem to get a terrible odor from one of our bathroom sinks, especially when the water runs. My husband calls it sewer gas. Is there any way to stop this from coming into our house? It sometimes smells like poop, or like someone had a perm.

You may have a bacterial growing inside your drain. Remove pop-up assembly and clean drain. Flush P-Trap.

    Hi Lazybug:

Like Milo said... start by removing the pop-up and then clear that part of the drain by pulling up anything you can see with an old metal coat hanger or similar...

Then you want to use some very hot water (not boiling) to cleanse the interior drain pipe and hopefully clear a little of the trap below as well.

To remove the pop up, you will need to undo the RETAINER NUT (see picture below) by twisting counterclockwise and then pull back on the HORIZONTAL PIVOT ROD and then diengage the pop up from above in the sink. Reverse steps to reinstall.

Let us know how you make out... ok?
