    Backflow Valve
Plumbing. Can a return flow valve on an outside spigot cause a shower pipe to rattle. Only one shower pipe rattles. The rest of the pipes in the house are fine. I have noticed when I turn off the outside spigot the valve doesn't spew anymore releasing pressure.
    Thanks
    Jim

Water hammer is usually caused by a mixer tap or a solenoid switch, like in a dishwasher or washing machine. I believe that there is a fitting that goes between your water heater outlet and the inlet to your house. It's like a spring loaded non return valve. If you go to your local plumbing store, and tell them you want a valve to stop water hammer,(at least, that's what we call it in Australia) then I'm sure that they will have them. Or ask a plumber. Cheers :)

Buy "Water Hammer Arrestors" and install them in proximity of fixture with solenoid valve.

Yes, back flow attachment on tip of your hose valve can cause your pipes to rattle.
