    Employment Law
I live in Arizona and recently returned to work from FMLA leave.( I had a baby) 2 weeks after I returned to work the company I work for had lay offs and transferred me to a new location. I now have to drive 1 1/2 to sometimes 3 hours one way! I am grateful to have a job, but are they allowed to relocate me with out asking? The reason I took this job 3 years ago was to be closer to home so we could start a family. Now I started a family and I'm even further away. I've never used this site before, but any information would be great:-)

Well.. they are allowed to say where they need you to work, yes. If the company is laying people off, you are free to tell them that you won't work that far away, and they will probably say "fine", offer the position to someone else in the company, and you will find yourself out of a job. But, you are also free to look for work closer to home, hopefully without it impacting your current job too much.

No they may just lay you off, but it appears that they will give you a choice to be laid off or to be transferred.
