Fan is blowing but no COLD air
    HI

I live in FL. We replaced our unit about 18 months ago. My parents did it.

We have these similar problems about once every 3-4 months.

I came home and it was 84. The fan was on but not blowing any cold air. I turned it off and waited for my mom to get here. When she got here, she tried to turn it on and it never kicked on. She emptied the box that fills with water( overflow box? ). We have done that before and it turn right on. This time, NOT so lucky. We have a digital thermostat that is 4 yrs old, it seems as though it's working right. Now she is trying to bypass the thermostat and connect yellow and red wires, but still NO cold air but the fan is running.
    Can someone please help?

    Thanks

Don't try to fix anything electrical on the unit! That could lead to dangerous results. Check the drip pan again. Is the A.C. draining properly into it? Algae and scum can build up in there and cause it to plug, even if the pan had water in it. That is most likely problem. Clean the intake (air filter), as well. And after you have removed the filter, clean that part of the A.C. too. Dust bunny buildup can "choke" the A.C. causing it to not function properly. Try the cheap solutions first, before calling a repairman. That's what my dad always said. Also, make sure there is plenty of air flow on the outside. Sometimes weeds can grow into the unit, blocking airflow. Good Luck!

While doing some research on Google, do you think it could be the compacitor?
I don't have a gauge to check it but Ive read they are fairly cheap.
