They say some cultures teach their babies to swim before they even learn to walk.
Swimming comes much more natural for babies
As far as chemicals or contamination in the water I am not sure how related the shots would be to the water.
Also they do have water inner tubes for babies. They have a little seat strap that their legs can go through and prevents them from slipping out as easily. I had them for my babies.

but of course no matter what the baby still has to be well attended.

It is really up to you and what facility you are going to take them to. Some require they have had at least the first round of injections... others do not. Two things to keep in mind... babies do not regulate their body temperature as well as older children or adults and can get easily chilled or over heated... also, some babies have very sensitive skin, so you'd want to watch for any reactions to things like chlorine for example... it can be very drying. You may want to check with the facility about the timing of its use so you can avoid overexposure. Some places have a pool specifically for younger babies and may apply chemicals differently for that reason.

Hi, I don't have a pomeranian, but planning that I might get a pom or another toy breed. I have a fairly large pool and I know dogs swim, but would a pom with such a coat be allowed to swim? Would it damage the fur or tangle it?
