Oxycotin addict
I was a heavy user of oxycotin for ten years. What started as a
Couple percocets a day eventually turned in a six 80mg oxycotin daily
Nightmare. I have been clean for nine
Months now thanks to suboxone.
But I stopped taking it due to the
Expensive costs ($8.00 per pill) and
I have to take two of the each day.
I haven't take any suboxone now
For three days and I'm starting to
Feel terrible. I won't have the money
For the suboxone for three more
Days I was wondering if it was
Possible to use 2 (80)mg of oxycotin
Just for two days and then start
The suboxone again. I have to do
Something. I'm constantly having
Uncontrolled anxiety and horrible
Thoughts of suicide. Please respond.
Thanks for listening.

Hey, I'm sorry to hear of your pain. I went through a similar thing with 10 mg Lortabs (which I am sure is not as strong as Oxy's), but still it's a similar feeling with the opiates leaving your body. I went through 3 or 4 days of feeling like complete crap , freezing cold, nausea, the runs (hershey squirts, whatever you call it... it won't let me spell $hit$), not wanting to get out of bed, not wanting to do anything. My legs and hands twitched for a couple days uncontrollably, esp at night, I'd have rather been dead just like you... but it was OVER in days and I'm done with it. I see the world different now. I wake up and feel like a normal person, I'm motivated, I'm my old self. I had been using the stuff for so long that I only felt normal when I was on it (even though it wasn't getting me high anymore, just maintaining and keeping it in my system) It's just so much better to tough it out and detox completely and be FREE!! There's a drug called Librium that is used for a short period in detox situations (2-3 days), possibly check into that and see if it is right for you.
If you really can't cope, don't be afraid to go to the ER. Rehab is generally a joke and a bad idea, you usually end up with more bad habits and ideas than when you went in!
GOOD LUCK. Try to sleep it off if you're able to. 3 days, it's worth it...

It has always been said that you should not take another drug to get over one drug. You should probably quit the suboxone as well, if you need it to feel better. I had a friend who was addicted to oxycontin and they put her on methodone to get her off which was even worse and more addicting. I deninitely would not take another oxycontin. You will be back to square one. I wish the best of luck to you. You can always find people to talk to.

I agree with you on most points, except having been there myself, I can't even begin to describe the feelings that go through you when cleaning out your system of opiates. It's a NIGHTMARE!! I disagree with a maintanance drug like methadone, but something like Librium or eve just strong sleeping pills for a few days I personally think is OK. Believe me, this guy is serious, I know how he feels, he probably wishes he was dead right now... I know I did. But it is most definitely possible to do it on your own with no or minimal drug intervention... seriously, 3 days max, he'll be OK...
OP: Don't take the Oxy's... you're halfway there... hang in there. I know right now it seems endless, but it does end and you will see things in a whole new light.

A sleeping pill could help just to keep the mind off things. I've felt some depression a few times and just wanted to pass out. I just went and got tylenol pm's.

Just to add, I really commend you on trying to kick this habit. I really truly wish you the best and I hope you can go drug free and get through the withdrawals. Trust me, your body, your family and friends will thank you!! It's really not so bad and there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

You are having heroin withdrawl sysmptoms. Other than cold turkey and totally kick the oxy habit, there is nothing you can do that won't readdict you to something else - you're apparently addicted to suboxone which is basically the same thing but different name. You definitely have a huge problem on your hands that will not be easy to fix in a big hurry. If you can tough it out and not get more pills - you've already done three days so far - why not keep doing one more day and then one more day until you don't need this stuff. Unless you are prescribed this for a serious pain reason I would not keep taking the stuff. You are more than half way through the withdrawl process of getting this out of your system, why would you want to go back and keep taking that poison? Just hang on and somehow ride the withdrawl symptoms out. You should give your body a complete rest from any drugs after taking them for 9 years like you did. I commend you to have gone this long without any. Please don't give up and go back to taking oxy any more.

80mg will be fine... just make sure that when you get the subs... to make sure... that you are going into withdrawel... it's a no brainer... why be sick... opiate withdrawel really sucks... the worst! Do the oxy's
Easier said than done... I would venture that neither of you have ever been dope sick. And just because he is on third day... hell... it has not even started... wait till day 5 when he is on the floor... sweating... puking... and in god awful leg and arm cramps... can't hold anything down... yeah... easy for you to say. It will be weeks before he feels better. 3 days? You ain't seen nothing yet pal...

Don't do the oxy's, you'll be right back where you started from. I know withdrawl sucks, and you feel like crap but if you can hold on you'll get through it.

I know several people who kicked this crap. It was not pretty or fun, but they did it. They refused to be a slave to this crap. I saw them first hand every day. Taking 80mg is out of the question. With a dose like that not having taken it in several days might cause the person to really have problems and land in the ER.

I know this was a while ago and has no bearing on the conversation, but you were 100% right in your advice. I have been there and it's a good 3-4 weeks before you feel better, I don't know what 3 day crap they are talking about! I just want to commend you on saying the truth!

Its really unfortunate that prescription pills cause so much agony (drained bank accounts, withdrawals etc.) its such a good feeling. It would be really nice if the usa would figure it out like some european countrys, and just start giving opiate addicts the drugs that they want, because in the countries that they started doing that in they have seen MASSIVE decreases in the felonies and other crimes that relate to people trying to get money for their fix. Drug dealers that literally only sell to get their own for a better price, women who have turned to prostitution to support a habit, people who rob pharmacies for pills, people who rob or mug other people to get money to get pills, and pretty much all the other illegal activities that people do to get money to get high have all but stopped in the places where they have opened heroine clinics. Its all "lab quality" and controlled by the states, they supply clean needles and cookers, which has stopped the spread of HIV and hepatitis, they supply a place for people to do their shots, so they aren't going to jail for possession, and the people are under the supervision of a doctor when they do it so there is no deaths from overdoses. Not to mention, they give it out for free! Its impossible to stop people from doing drugs. It's that simple. So the government might as well do the next best thing, and stop all the negative effects on communities and families. I just wish american politicians would be progressive enough to even consider these types of things, because the outcome would be amazing. Less people flooding the jails for drug related offenses. Fewer people ing up their families finances and kids lives, fewer drug dealers making money off the poorest people in the country, fewer diseases being spread by drug users, and fewer mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters and children dying from overdoses in dope houses. I can't see one problem with this type of system. Can you guys?
