HAL options after Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 Setup
Take a look at this site it mite help you some.
If your processor is a hal, then you need to be very careful how you install it.
Usually when an operating system detects a hardware device with no error in the device manager on it then it will get maximum potentual use out of that device.

When your system detects that device correctly with no errors it doesn't matter too much what driver is listed just as long as it is functioning properly. The device will do what it is supposed to do.

If your computer is running slow and problems are accuring frequently such as error messages or missing files then it isn't the hardware that is messed up, it is probably your operating system damaged from a virus, bad shutdown or conficting hardware and software or something like that. If your system was running great before, then you need to back up your impotrant files and factory restore your operating systim.

If you have more info for me post it and I will look at it later today.

    My $0.02:

If Windows was installed on your laptop by the manufacturer and not yourself, leave it the <bleep> alone.

If you installed Windows on the laptop, leave it the <bleep> alone unless you know exactly why it should be changed to a different HAL, in which case you wouldn't be here.

Changing your HAL for no other reason than some "diagnostic report" told you to is a good way to get a crash course in rebuilding a laptop from scratch because it won't boot.
