Able to get unsupervised visits or possible custody
I am wondering what the likelihood would be of my ex getting unsupervised visits or possibly even partial custody of our 2yr old daughter with his past arrests/jail time. He was arrested last for neglect of a senior (his father) who he now cares for again. He has also had problems with drugs both using and selling in the past. We were together for only a couple of months- never married. It was short lived as the more I found out about him the more being with him freaked me out. I ended up pregnant very early on in the relationship and I didn't want to raise a child in a home with someone like my ex (even if he is the father). I have tried to get him to clean up his act so that he can see his daughter in a safe environment. And we have verbally agreed that when he does see her I would accompany her as there are things in his past that make me not trust him alone with her. He has only seen her once but has been updated regularly regarding her well being, health, and other such things. I have made other attempts to let him see her but when he doesn't like where I say we will be for the visit he makes excuses as to why he can't make it and other times (including fathers day) he will refuse to answer the call when we are supposed to have a visit. The only money receive from him for our daughter was a $5.00 bill. And really it was his fathers money as he has no job and lives off his father's retirement. I did not put him on the birth certificate as at the time he moved out of my apartment (lived there less than a month) we agreed to go our separate ways. I have not tried to get child support through the courts in fear that he would get unsupervised visits or partial custody. I am not as worried at the age she is now.. but more so when she gets to her young teen years (due to indiscretions in his past). Then again you never know with people who cross certain boundaries that shouldn't be crossed. Sorry, I am long winded. I just have so many worries over this. I want to do everything the right way in order to protect/care for our daughter. I think she should know who her father is but at the same time I want to protect her from possibly being hurt by him in either a mental or physical way. Please give any advice you may have as to where I should start to get all of this straightened out in the best way for my daughter.

With a history of drug usage, its likely he will be limited to supervised visits until he can prove he's clean.

It will be up to the court but normay you will have to prove everything in court. After that he would have to prove he is clean But he should get supervised visits
