    Inheritance Debt
    I inherited 25% of my family business before my dad died. I later received 50% more of it after my dad died and my brother inherited the other 50% leaving me 62.5% ownership. I now ow my mother $36,000 for the 25% I inherited from my father because she has legal claim to my fathers estate. I cannot afford to pay the amount she is asking. Is there any way out of this debt?

    Is the business generating enough income for you to pay your mother? Just curious: if the debt is $36,000, how much equity have you inherited?

    Well first not sure where your numbers come from, was there a will, did it go though probate, where or when did wife make the claim ?
