    Why am I impotent?
Over the past three years, my penis has become increasingly flaccid and less capable of achieving an erection, to the point now that it never gets hard, even when I awake and find it enlarged. Nothing I do or my wife does will help, although it feels better when she masturbates me than when I do. I am not capable of intercourse at all.

One thing of importance is that, while it feels good to masturbate or be masturbated, it doesn't feel WONDERFUL like it used to. The slightest touch used to drive me crazy and make it instantly hard, now my whole shaft and even the head are kind of semi-numb or at least not very sensitive.

I have tried viagra, it gave me a splitting headache (which would have been worth it) but I really never got rock hard and it felt like my penis was some object attached to me, but not mine.

I am fifty six, and I know other men are still sexually active at my age. I have masturbated since I was in the eighth grade, often several times a day, and have had intercourse as many as eight times in twenty four hours but no more. I still masturbate one to three times a week, but I deliberately don't do it as often as I would like to try to firm myself up. I could do it daily, and sometimes do it twice in a day, but usually with a floppy day following. I have sex no more than every three months, and then it is only masturbation.

I am in good health, my cholesterol is 160 or less, sugar is normal, and at the onset of this, I was taking no medicine except an asprin a day and vitamins. I now take lipitor (hence the 160 - it was 210 eighteen months ago) and medicine for arythmia.

Abour thirty three years ago I injured my right testicle. I never knew but I expect it was ruptured - it is much smaller than the other and often very sensitive. I wonder if the semen possibly escaping into my scrotum could be causing me this problem (It surely didn't effect my performance for the next thirty years, though).

    Thanks

First was the viagra from the doctor or one of those internet sites, about 3/4 of the internet stuff is fake and gives you a worst head ache. But see your doctor, there are other medications that can work.

Have you recently seen your physician to discuss this and what options you might have? Self diagnosis is not the best way to approch this.

At your age, from your physician, I think you want to know about how your arteries are doing, did they harden, are they semi-blocked? Also, you *don't* want to be overweight at all. That is extremely important. Any prostate problems?

Are you bored with intercourse for some reason... any resentments about having to give more to your wife than you receive from her. HIdden resentments damage a sex life.

Do you have any desire to add variety to your sexual and sensual life?

Have you read about how aging effects a man's sexual potency? I think that it would be a good idea to learn more from a reputable book.

Just throwing out some thoughts to you to see if I hit on something that will help you.

    Best wishes,
