I Just Found Out Only Last Week That I Have Been Adopted. I Am 49 Years Old.
But Was Told By My Brother In Greece And Over The Phone I Live In Australia.
I Could Never Obtain A Birth Certificate, No One Has Never Helped Me To Obtain One. I Don't Know Who To Turn To. I Strongly Feel That My Adoption Wasn't Done Legally. I Think That In The 50's A Female Must have had A Child Which Was Me, And Given To My Assumed Mother With No Paper Work. My Brother Has Always Been Mean To And Want Reveal Anything To Me. I Was Forced To Marry At The Age Of 16 And My Parents Obtained My Then Greek Passport Behind My Back And Sent To Australia.
Every time I Want To Apply For My Birth Certificate, My Brother Kept Saying I Don't Exist And Have No Records. Is That Possible?
Who Am I? What Is My Real Name? When Was I Born?

You exist. And you are who you are, regardless your parentage.

If you really feel you must track down your birth records, you should be able to do so, especially with a passport. Now... whether or not those birth records are accurate is another story.

I suggest starting with your parents, if they are still living. From there, get hospital records of where you were supposed to have been born.

I have no idea how Greek law works, unfortunately, but those are the best places to start.

I would guess that the birth records would only show the names of who you knew as mom and dad because that is the way they [did] closed adoptions. If it was done illegally then it would be even less of a chance of any real names being on it.
Realize you are you. Finding out who biological parents isn't going to throw away who you have come to be over 49 years. Very likely it wouldn't make you any much different either.
Can you ask your brother why he doesn't want to talk about anything he does know?

If your brother was always mean to you, then maybe he lied about you being adopted? I always hear of siblings teasing calling each other adopted.



And if you are adopted, it doesn't define you as a person.You have an identity.

Dear blackblue,
You could be right about my brother probably lying about me being adopted, but he definintely knows something as he has paper work in my situation but will not reveal it to anyone, my sister that lives in greece told me so. I have to find out on my own without any help from them as they won't help me. My parents died (adoptee parents) so I can ask them. I might have to go to greece and try to find some answers.

You are who you make yourself to be. Can't you take legal action against your brother to obtain the paper work? I'm not sure how the Australian court system is organized but I'm sure you have a RIGHT to posses that information. I'm also sure that if you went to the courts or police and told them your situation, they would help you discover you're identity. But remember- a name and an certificate doesn't define who you are- You do.
