    Mismanagment of records
When a money order is used to pay the clerk of courts and a year has passed since payment was made, is there a way of tracing that money order if receipt has been lost?

Sorry guy, but usually no. Money Orders usually have a carbon slip or some other way that you enter enough personal information on to show to the money order company that you purchased it. Without this, there is little that they can do. I'd go back to the Clerk of Courts and ask them to do a thorough search for your payment. Was anything given to you, or awarded to you because of your payment? You could ask them that if you didn't give them the money, then how come I got "so and so". Sometimes they can track it that way. I got a power bill reversed that way. Try buying one of those accordion folders and keeping your records. You don't have to be meticulous, just put all of "January's" stuff in one slot and "February's" in another, and so on and so on. It will at least save things for you with a little digging, but it will be there. Money Orders are not the best method of sending money anyhow. A lot of banks now offer free checking, or you can go and wire money, or ask a friend to help out with their credit card (with you paying them the full amount of course), even Gift cards from credit card companies are good to use for online or other use. This is what I told a friend of mine who didn't have a credit card, but wanted something from Amazon! Best of luck, and again try to work with the CoC!
