How do I import email files from XP external hard drive to Vista new PC?
My PC crashed and burned this morning. MB is toast. Was able to salvage hard drive and I have it in an external reader and can access info. It was Win XP. New system is Vista. I'm not sure where to find the .pst files because I can't seem to locate the following pathway on external hard drive...
    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application
    Data\Microsoft\Outlook

No Administrator, just my name and then no local settings. No backup, of course, and I really need access to those emails. Any feedback very much appreciated.

Oh, also external HD is Outlook 2003 and new PC is Outlook 2007. Not sure if that matters, I'm guessing they use the same extensions but can you say between Vista and OL 2007 HUGE learning curve? Please help. Many thanks.

    Ciao.

The default location would have been [External_drive_letter]:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. Local Settings and Application Data are hidden folders, you may need to enable display of hidden files in Explorer. You can also simply search the entire drive for all .pst files. Once you find the former PST, you add it as an additional message store to Outlook 2007 via Tools > Account Settings > Data Files Tab and then move the messages to your new default store or have both stores. You could also move the old file to C: (or elsewhere) and make it the default repository by setting it up as the store for your email account entry also via Tools > Account Settings > Email Tab.
