    Hole in exhaust duct
    I have a Sears "thru the wall heater" with a hole in the exhaust duct. Looks like it rusted due to rain? It is an old furnace but worked good and this seems to be the only problem. Also there are no replacement parts available from Sears and the original mfgr. The outside vent cover is OK.

    I see my options are:

    1 repair the duct with?? Metal tape wrapped around it?
    2 replace the duct if I can find a similar size (10" X 3.75" ID)
    3 find a pipe that fits inside the existing one and use "compound??" to seal it.

    1 or 3 look more feasible to me.

    Suggestions?

    NO This would be bad news. CO poisoning is a killer

    No could be to restrictive.

    A good sheet metal contractor should be able to fabricate a SEEMLESS duct for you. The key is seemless.
