I'm glad you all enjoyed it, because it gives me allot of pleasure, that's why I do it, or did, haven't for 7 years. I think it's also hard because of what it means to me, the fact that it's something I shared with my dad, and he's gone, so is my mom, they both died in 2001. I still have a hard time with it, they both meant so much to me, their absence is something I'm still not used to, I don't think I ever will be.

My dad's art brings me peace, I look at it and remember when he made it, the fun we had, the classes we took, the jokes and laughter. I don't know if I'll ever be able to experience that again with my art.

Thanks all, you are all such great friends. What would I do without you, I hope I never have to find out.
    Sweet Alty,
Tears are good for the cleansing of the soul to clear the path for the birth of new visions!
You shared a vision with your father and it was fulfilled.
The tears come now to clear your path for new visions, inspired by your father. He would be so proud to know you are once again, being inspired to create. No doubt, a dream he had for your life. (I don't presume to know). Seven years, (7) God's perfect number!

Sharing a part of you that was so entwined with your dad makes it all the more difficult for you yet also, all the more special to share with others. Not everyone has a dad who loves them or inspires them or even sometimes accepts them. Your story and your art may be the only way some ever experience a little piece of that feeling and you can provide that through the written word, sharing little moments spent with your dad as you both painted together as you also share your new creations, inspired by your father's love for you and for art. I believe your dad would feel so honored for you to share the love he had for you, with others but that is not for me to say, only to suggest.

I think you are ready to just burst forth as you move toward a new time in your life of creating, using the wonderful memories of your father to inspire you. Everyone likes to know the inspiration behind the artist's work, or enjoy reading little stories as to the development of the piece. Little Alty, I want to encourage you to become the artist that is within you! It has sat dormant for a time, as life moved slowly forward.

Now you are making me cry Rebby! Your words are so sweet and touching. I'm so glad to call you my friend. Yes Alty's paintings are beautiful, and her Dad would be proud to see her painting again. I'm at a loss for words Rebby. That was just so sweet, for you to give Alty that inspiration. I'm sure her Dad hands will help her with every stroke of the brush, and she will feel him in the room with her while she paints more beautiful pictures. :)

The kids are interested, and they've been begging me to paint something, I just have to find happiness in it again, not saddness because my dad isn't beside me.

Here's one of the first pictures I every painted, it's not great, but hubby loves it so it's hanging in our bedroom. Unfortunately I couldn't get a great picture, the spray that I put on to protect the picture makes in shiny when you take a picture. I hope you get the basic image. :)

I've gotten allot better since that painting, but it was fun to do, and interesting to look at now, because I can see all the flaws. :)
Dear Alty. Your dad would want you to continue. When we encourage our children to do something that they have fun doing and are good at (and believe me, you're GOOD) they want you to find peace and happiness in your memories of them. When I taught Jaime a few things and she got good at it, it made me so darned proud of her and I sincerely hope she continues the rest of her life and has fond memories of me teaching her how. That's what drives us parents. It leaves a legacy - so think of it that way. I just downloaded your picture of the wolves for her because she has loved wolves since she was a baby and when we went to the zoo to watch them, they always came close to us and 'sang' their song for her - it was usually near closing time and it was a ritual. She still remembers that time as one of the happiest times as a child. Hope it's OK with you for me to share it with her. Keep up your wonderful talent my love, don't deprive the rest of the world of something so beautiful!

The other picture makes me think of a scene in a Charles D*ckens novel - you've got talent babe, and should never give it up. - for some reason his last name gets blocked, maybe because 'someone' thinks it's a 'bad word'.

On the subject of games and such ---- and I'm NOT advertizing for the products in any way!

I like yachtzee(sp) still, dominoes, crosswords, scrabble, netuno, spades, any breakout game, jigsaw, the original mahjong, space invaders, etc.
If you check out completelyfreesoftware.com - they have old and new games for all windows and/or DOS versions. I have lifetime membership on that site and believe me, it's worth it. It does not just have games, but everything else, from utilities to desktop apps and more.
That's where I got my Total Commander and my Desk Sweeper. The desksweeper clears the desktop when the apps you use are minimized when you use them so that the icons in the background don't interefere with your concentration.

That site also has a lot of bible-related games for kids of all ages which I download for my friend for her kids.

Let me know if there is anything on it that might interest you and I can download and send to you to try out - because there is minimal fee to join - a lifetime cost me less than 30 dollars.

Also, if you like jigsaw puzzles that you can create yourself with your own pictures, different piece shapes, and from 25 to 3000 pieces try out Jigs@w Puzzle. This one was so good I just had to buy it.

Then there is Kyodai Mahjong.. where you can create your own tiles, tilesets, and the site has custom made tilesets made from other members that you can download and use. Just check out the site and see for yourself how much imagination some people have.

Right now, I have RealArcade and BigFish Games and I just love hidden object games of all sorts. This keeps my mind busy and it's a lot of fun to find all the hidden objects in some super graphic apps. The nice thing about these sites is that you can download and play any type of game for an hour for free until you find one that you want to purchase.

So, now you know I'm still a kid at heart. I collect all kinds of pictures and create coloring books in PDF format too with Painshop Pro 9, although I don't do it as much as I used to, I still have a pretty good collection and give them away to my friends and neighbors to keep their kids busy. The only problem is when I send them on the net, I have to make them small enough to use Yousendit.com for people to be able to download them. My Winnie the Pooh, flowers, fish, christmas, aminals, clowns, and easter coloring books have been sent almost all over the world.

PM me any time if you need more information or if anyone has any ideas on how I can send large files an easier way.

Ohhhh you are so cool Chery!!
AND, I just figured out who you remind me of... :)
I have a best friend in Alaska, I was 8 months old when she was born and we hung out almost every day after that special day! OUR MOTHERS were best friends... bowling, bingo, costume making, arts and crafts, and my fave was Dennys for breakfast! ;) I called them both "mom" I love my best friend and I love my Mom and her best friend. I can't tell you how I was devistated when my parents split, I can't tell you what it meant to me to have her around when my real mom left and never really came back. She was and is extra special to me, and so are you. I never called anyone else mom, even though there are people in my life today that would probably love it if I did. So I just wanted to share this with you. YOu are so much like her, I am lucky to have met you:)

Goodness Starby! I didn't mean to make anyone cry. I am sure knowing Alty's loss, it touches a chord in all of us. I agree with you that Alty will feel her dad's presence in the room as she paints because we all carry a part of those we deeply love with us forever.

I am glad we are friends also. You and others have been such a blessing to me in ways you will probably never really know.

I sound a bit sappy here this morning... sorry everyone, not meaning to. :o It is just so nice to have friends to wake up to every morning and know if we need each other, someone will be here.

Thanks to all of you! :)

Same here Start. I love you too and what you do with kids that need a 'mom'. When you feel exhausted and down, think of us sitting on couch with your head in my lap and me brushing your hair or rubbing your back and just talking about anything under the sun. We might be geographically away from each other, but always consider me there for you any time.

    Love,

I just don't know what to say...
Rebby, I am trying my hardest to be as positive as I can. I am glad it is shining through. I have been through a few rough spots, and I am trying to find a way to move on and be well. Life is so short... I can't just sit around and mope, or be angry, or be sad! Hugs to you Reb...
Chery, I can only dream of being right next to you;) This is what it is supposed to be, so I take it in as much as I can! I know I can count on you Chery, ever since I met you and CBW introduce us to each other... I knew.;)
