I am installing a Neo Angle 38" corner shower unit purchased at Home Depot. The instructions are less than helpful so I am turning here for some help.

First some background. I am building a bathroom in my basement, so the shower is installed ontop the concrete floor and one of the corner walls is the basement studded out wall and the other is an interior studded out wall.

When installing the base, it says nothing about gluing down to the concrete or subfloor. I have read somewhere about gluing with Liquid Nails to durock, but I do not have Durock under the base unit, only concrete. Do I need anything? My impression is that the manual would have stated to glue down if necessary.

The second question is, Do I screw the base to the studs? Again, the instructions do not say to screw to the studs.

Lastly, the instructions do explicitly say to install the base flush against the studs. Does the wallboard then get installed over the lip on the base or end at the top?

Any help is appreciated.

Hello scott, you need to make sure that your walls are square and plumb, then you can use either plaster, or mortar mix to give you a solid fit once you've dry fit the base to make sure the drain is centered correctly, just make sure that the mix is soupy enough to squeeze out the bottom of the base, and check for level and the base is against the two side walls. Once you squeeze out the mix and leveled the base, screw it down and give it overnight to set up before standing on it.
Some shower bases bring clips that attach to the lip of the showerbase and screw to the studs, you can screw the lip to the studs but make sure to predrill the holes, and keep them to the upper edge of the lip to keep from making weep holes if you get them too close to the base.
The wonder board can rest on the top of the edge to keep the walls plumb from top to bottom. I hope this helps get you started. Goodluck-----Zeke

First install shower pan. Shower pan has tendency not to sit flat on the floor. It is always warped a bit. You can use liquid nails. Be generous. Flip pan over and apply on all ribs and high points. Install pan over the drain. Install drain. Put two / three bags of cement ( or any heavy object ) on top and leave it like that for a day. Otherwise, shower pan will rise above the floor. Yes, screw pan through lip to each stud. But pre-drill first. When dry, caulk around perimeter with silicone caulk.

The pan has 1" lip. When installing water-resistant drywall, go over that lip until it sits on top of the pan.

Now, real problems are awaiting you with installing wall panels... We will wait for your follow up post :D
