30s or 40s movie-family adopts crippled boy
I'm looking for the title to a movie, made I think in the 30s or 40s, where a family with several children adopt a young crippled boy who wears leg braces. They have a difficult time making him believe they care about him and he is very distrusting. At one point in the movie they spend some time at a home near the beach and later in the movie he is attempting to earn a Boy Scout badge and has to finish a long hike and the weather is bad, either snowing or raining. He finishes and earns the badge. I think the boy's name in the movie may be Jimmy. I don't remember any of the names of the actors in this movie. Good movie- tear jerker. Hoping someone will know it so I can find a copy to buy.
