How do you lay carpet with tack strips... do I need to rent a stretcher?
It's a 9 by 22 foot room, and I plan to place an 8 pound pad under it.

Here is a link to a pretty good example of how to do it ? For a 9 x 22 room the stretcher is a good idea you might be able to knee kick the 9 x width but the 22 length will just be too long unless you really know what your doing. If you have anymore questions just post back we are here to help. GOOD LUCK, AC

Yes... not with tack strips, only the kind that has the pad attached to it... but the job came out real nice

I have seen them do the knee kick thing, and kind of hook it over the tack strips, moving along the wall. I'd be willing to try

Silver if you still need it here's another link read the kicker and stretcher sections if you really want to just use a kicker give it a try . I still recommend the strectcher at least for the 22 length. GOOD LUCK, AC

I rented a kicker and a stretcher, and the 78 year old neighbor guy, who can do just about anything... I rented him too!! We got it done and it turned out great!!
Thanks for all your help and suggestions, I really didn't know where to begin.
