Fireplace Hearth Extension Support In Crawl Space?
    Hello Everyone,

I was crawling under a home the other day and noticed that the area beneath the fireplace/hearth extension had some damaged CMUs. Would these be providing ongoing support for the hearth extension? Or would they have been just temporary support until the hearth extension actually set up?

The bottom line is. Is this something that needs repair or not?

I don't have a lot of detail about the construction of the fireplace other than it was a masonry type, installed in the middle of the home.
The home was built in the early 70's with a poured in place raised foundation with 2x T&G subflooring supported by girders, piers & wood posts.

    Thank you for your help.
