    No sound detected
    I have a Compaq Presario SR1610NX and for some reason there is no sound device.

    A few week ago my computer have some sort of virus so I called a friend who is a specialist in computer to take a look, she clean out everything and now I have no sound I wasn't able to reinstall the sound back because when I bought this computer there was no disc with the computer. Everything was pretty much install in the computer. So now I don't know how to bring back my sound... can anyone help?

    • Right click MY COMPUTER > PROPERTIES
    • HARDWARE > DEVICE MANAGER
    • Is your non-working audio hardware listed here with yellow alert symbols? If so, write down the full device name and post here.
    • If not, click on the little icon SCAN FOR HARDWARE CHANGES and see if the audio device is listed.

    If we're going to help you find drivers, we need the full name of your audio component.

    Here's the audio driver for your PC
    Realtek AC'97 Audio Driver Update Compaq Presario SR1610NX Desktop PC

    I suggest before you install that one you uninstall your old one: go to add/remove programs and it should be called RealTek something.
