    Femoral graft for dialysis
Can anyone tell me the pro and con's on having a ptfe graft inserted in the thigh area, it's to be used for heamodialysis, for my wife. She has already had 2 failed fistula's and they say that there is no further access in her upper limbs, so currently on a tunneled neck line.

    Thanks

The grafts used in the thighs work as well at the one's in the arms. The arms are always used first but thighs are OK. The only inconvience might be what to wear to dialysis when it is cold, you must wear shorts. One of my patents had a zipper put in in the sides of the left needing to be exposed. The important thing to remember is she needs an access asap due to the risks of infection involved with a tunneled catheter.
