Child Support Law after 18 and in College
My divorce agreement stated that my ex husband would not have to pay child support after our son turned 18. He still had 6 months of high school ti complete, and is now in college. It is my understanding that California law has changed, and that the father is obligated to directly contribute to my son's cost of living and general support. Is this true?

Since your order says 18 and nothing about college you would probably have to go back to court and see if they would let you get it modified.

If the divorce agreement states that he will not have to pay support after your son turns l8, then I guess that is what you will have to adhere to.

The age of consent is l8 which means your son is an adult, ready to take on responsibility and work towards paying for his own education if there is none forthcoming. So, mom, he has to get a job if he wants further education if you can't support him within your home.

Your son has to be prepared now to support himself, pay you room and board and go to college if he so wishes.

These are the hard and true facts one has to face when turning the adult age.

You can go back to court and ask for the original order to be modified.
