How do I get rid of this
Anyone know the type of grass/weed this is someone told me crabgrass but someone else said it not. This grass is dark green and really thick. How do I get rid of it? I cover about 10ft by 3 feet wide seems to be taken over the other grass in the yard.

    Thanks
    Dave

Looks like crabgrass to me but cut short so I can't see the telltale seeds. Once crabgrass is growing its harder to kill compared to a pre-emergant treatment. Scott's Ortho does make a crabgrass killer in both a spray bottle and a garden hose unit. You can find it most anywhere including ACE Ace - Ace Tree: Lawn & Garden: Plant & Lawn Care: Weed & Plant Control: Weed Control: Ortho® Crabgrass Killer (0392160) - 6 Pack

Either crab grass or what my mom called quick grass (I think). I had some success with Ortho brush killer but you have to remember it'll kill the grass too. If it's taken over a whole area, try splitting a black garbage bag and spreading it over the area for a few days (weigh down edges). Let the lack of sun and extra heat cook it. Then rake a bit and seed w/grass you want. It'll probably show up again though since it's runners are prolific...

Scotts Ortho crabgrass killer will not kill the rest of the lawn, brush killer would.
