Switch fan direction?
I have a hamton bay ceiling fan that turns counter clock wise so it pulls all the air up. How do I get it to turn the other way?? No lights, buttons, switches, or little chains. HOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTT. Thanks

Look on top of motor for switch, If the only speed is High, use a fan control.

Every fan I have seen blows air down when turning counter-clockwise. That doesn't mean there can't be some designed the other way, I realize. When you look up at the blade when the fan is stopped, if the left long edge is higher than the right edge on each, the air will be forced downward when the blade turns counter-clockwise. If that is not the case, I have been of no help and I can only add that some folks says they get more cooling effect when the air is drawn upward.

I have a Hampton Bay fan too, the switch to reverse the direction is hard to see unless you take the glass for the light off or get up high enough to see behind it. It should be there.

What model is it? Picture? Which direction are the blades turning, if you look at them from below?
Does it have a light?

Smearcase, the old Hunter Fans had a reversible flow fan, it only rotated 1 direction, the blades could be set at 2 angles, 1 for upflow, one for downflow.

Yes but this fan is a Hampton Bay. Those Hunters are pretty rare to still see in use today. I have several:

Hey Ceilingfan, hope all is well. smearcase mentioned he had not seen, I figured I would mention one designed "another way". Like you say, they are still around. I think that was before Robins Myers(forgive spelling). They are quality and quiet.

There were mechanically reverseable Hunters that predated the Robbins & Myers fans, and a few that came after, but most were actually FROM the Robbins & Myers era.
Everyone else is probably lost :)
