    Needy puppy
We have a 7month old cocker and he is a handful. I can get him to sit and laydown, but the thing that I'm having trouble with is that ( I beleve this is how you say it) he has dependince on me. He follows me to everyroom, when I put him the his cage and I leave the room he brakes and wines till I came back. But he still wines till I go over to him and play with him. I don't know what to do. I have tried smacking my hands togeather to get his attachen to stop, and other toys, but I just don't know what else to do.
Also when my husband gets home from work and maxx (the pupp) just goes wild. Jumping barking and just wants to play, because he's home. But hubby just wants to relax. I don't know that to do.
I was hoping that maybe someone could help, please if you can give me anything. Big or small.
    Thanks for you time,

Well one way to make your dog act exceptably when your husband comes home is for him not to pay any attention to the puppy what so ever until he is calm and submissive. Then its all right for youyr husband to pet him. But if your husband comes home and the pup is acting unacceptably and he pets him this reinforces the active behaviour. So don't pay attention to him until he acts the way you want him to, then you can pet.

Never ever excite the puppy, excitement should be unknown to him, no 'WaNNA gO foR WALKS?! >! >' don't do that. If you do. Next time the dog is following you, go in to a room and ask him to leave, say "out of my room please".. say it once, and if he doesn't get it, lead him out of the room, every time he comes in, lead him out again and eventually, he will understand what it means when you ask him to leave.
How much exercise does you dog get?
Never give in, ignore the whining, don't yell or smack your hands unless you want him to be skiddish, and I'm sure you don't. Ignore the whining, reinforce the good but only when he is calm and quiet. Any more questions? I rehabilitated a very excitable, unbalanced dog so I can help ;)
