Mama knows best I went through this with my family and my daughters father and I stayed wit that man and the relationship just got worse over the years and now it's gone but if you don't want to listen to your mom follow your instincts if you know in your heart that he ain't the one for whatever reason let it go find someone else but if he is worth it talk to your mom woman to woman about him and hopefully she will start to see how you feel and respect your decisions in mate picking

I think that you should do what u want to do. No matter what your parents say, cos at the end of the day its your life and you should be allowed to make your own mistakes. And if it turns out to be a mistake then you will learn from it. But from my experience emo guys are great (and really fit =P ) parents just don't understand them I don't think. I remember trying 2 explain to my mum what an emo was and she kept calling them an emu, she really has no idea

All I've got to say is that your parents aren't the ones to choose who you fall for and who you can't fall for. If you like the guy and he likes you I say go for it :) Your mom needs to learn not to sterotype people. Everyone has a heart, and deserves to be loved by someone.

Why do your parents say he's a bad influence? Is it because of his outer appearance, or does he do things that would make him a bad influence? Same goes for his parents, why do they say that about you?

I'm all for the emo guys and liking whoever you want, but sometimes parents have a reason for saying what they do. Growing up I had friends though that their parents said I was a bad influence, and it turned out to be their kids that were doing bad things and blaming it on me, so it really just depends on what's being said, what you guys do when you hang out, that sort of thing.

That's not a healthy reason to date someone.
