No water pressure for hot or cold water.
Two-story Clark Wilson Home built in 1999. Water softener sat idol for 2 or 3 months due to a broken line on the softener. The broken line was replaced and now after over a month of working wonderfully, the hot and cold water isn't working in the predominantly used areas. In other words, the guest bedroom (toilet, shower, and sink) as well as the whirlpool bath in our master bedroom, work well without hesitation. They weren't used during the time the water softener was broken.

We removed the small filters or sediment traps from the sink heads, including the kitchen and the showers, but now only the hot water is working. We were told by a plumber to allow the water to run and with time, it should unclog itself. Otherwise, if requesting a plumber, that's all the plumber will do, let the water run.

It has been over a week now and there isn't any cold water. The washing machine isn't working at all (no hot or cold water), the sinks, toilets and showers only run hot water. How do we get the cold water and washing machine working?

Since you have already decided to go with a plumber and not DIY I'd say just call a better plumber. The one you called probably can't find his fanny with both hands. Good plumber would do a little more than just let the water run.

Did you open up the valves in question and then turn the water back no9n to flush out the cold waqter supply? Did you take the thec old water supply hose off the cold water stop and check the screen in the hose? Tell us what you have done so far?

What the plumber should have done is flushed the cold water mains and branches to flush out any debris that's clogging the lines. This is something that you can do yourself you know. Simply shutv the water off at the stops and open up each valve, check the inlet ports on the cartridge and then turn the water back on to flush out the supply and valve. This should be done at each faucet affected.
If, when the valve's open and you still can't get cold water pressure then the clog's in the branch and the house will have to be sahut off at the house shutoff and the angle stop removed while you turn the water back non to flush out the branch. Good luck, Tom
