    Reporting a Hacker
For the last month someone has been attempting to access my computer three or four times daily. Here's what his IP is.
    Remote Address-- 255.255.255.255.(UDP Port 68)from 10.96.176.1 Port 67
My CA firewall stops these attempts but they're annoying. Who do I complain to and how do I stop it? Thanks, Tom

Can't report that address since it's part of a private (ie. Not allowed to be sold to anyone) range of addresses:jpsdomain.org: NAT & Private IP Address Ranges

I'm assuming you have a home network based on the subnet mask (those 255 numbers). If your router default to using the 10.x.x.x IPS then what you are seeing is harmless pinging or keepalive "noise" from your home network.

That's nothing to worry about as this looks like perfectly normal traffic from your own ISP.

Port 67 is used for bootp or DHCP - two very similar protocols that are used to assign ip addresses dynamically.
Software firewalls frequently throw up results of this type.

This gives more information: UDP Ports 67 and 68

Tracing a hacker [ 9 Answers ]

Over the last week, my firewall has blocked 5 intrusion attempts into my machine. I think it is someone in the building trying to hack in to my system. The firewall was able to produce an ID tag on the hacker, but how do I trace them? Is it even possible?
