    Repair Breast Implant
I had silicone breast implants done in 1985. No problems till around 2002 when I noticed that one had ruptured. So I had surgery to have them taken out, all the silicone was removed from the cavity and I got the silicone implants replaced with saline implants.

For a while everything was fine. Then a few months ago I noticed a large lump in right breast. Went to doctor and he did a biopsy, removed the lump, and told me that it was not cancerous. Dr. told me that there was not any problems with the saline implant, but that silicone from the silicone implant I had originally had migrated to some scar tissue and had attached itself to the scar tissue making the lump. He said I should be fine now.

Okay, so now I am over this latest surgery of the removal of the lump and doing fine, except that my breast is very vulnerable to breakage because the Dr. removed a lot of my own breast tissue to get out the scar tissue.

When I feel of my breast around the nipple area I can actually feel the plastic bag of the saline implant it is so close to the skin. I am afraid that I will pick something up, like in the laundry and prick myself with a pin and cause my breast to leak. I wear a padded bra, but as thin as the skin seems to be I believe it could happen very easily without me even knowing it happened.

I asked my Dr. if I should be looking into getting some kind of reconstructive surgery because of the thinness and he told me that there wasn't anything that could be done now.

My breast looks okay and still looks symmetrical to the other one so that is not the issue. I just know that if I ever plan to have any reconstructive surgery for this issue that I need to have the reconstructive surgery now because my health insurance is willing to pay for it now. You don't ever know when insurance companies are going to cancel you now adays, so I figure if I am going to get fixed up right I should be looking into it now.

Could I have the surgery where they remove some tissue from your buttocks and use that to make a breast? Then I wouldn't have to worry about the implant getting ruptured ever again. Thanks for the information.

I would aim to say that if they were going to do surgery for the implant and the thinness of the skin, they'd just remove the implant and then do a reconstructive surgery on the breast to make it look more normal without putting any more implant material in, so as to be safest.
