    1991 Honda Civic won't start
1991 Honda Civic Si 5 speed won't start. When Ignition is turned on the CEL comees on and then goes out, I hear the main relay click and the fuel pump running. The coil, cap, rotor, spark plugs and wires have been replaced. I tested to see if spark was present on one of the cylinders and it was. The MAP sensor has 5 volts between both reference pins. When attempting to gather trouble codes by looking at the ECU the light flashes once as soon as the ignition is turned on and then goes out. According the Haynes Manual, this is an oxygen content trouble code. However, I unplugged the MAP sensor, Oxygen sensor, both connector beside the distributor cap and I get the same response from the light on the ECU. It only flashes once and only when the ingtion is turned on. The car has roughly 250000 miles on it. The vaccuum lines to the MAP sensor look to be in good shape. Also I did notice when putting on the new distributor rotor that it rotated as I was trying to position it to loosen the hold down screw so the timing belt shouldn't be the issue. Also all fuses were checked and were all good.

. Test/replace the ignitor. If the car still won't start, you may need to replace the distributor housing, due to problems with the unserviceable CKP, TDC, or CYL sensors.

. DTC 1 = problem with the oxygen sensor circuit. First, try resetting the ECM. Second, inspect the fuel pressure regulator.

    Hello,
Thanks for your reply. I tested for and verified spark on one of the cylinders. Isn't this verifying that the ignitor is good? Help me to understand if not. How do you test the ignitor?

Not necessarily. AutoZone can test the ignitor for free, by hooking it up to their Well's machine. O'Reilly Auto Parts can also test it for free. Because of the age and mileage on your car, I would replace this problematic component.
