I am demoing my small bathroom. But I have been unable to get the little buttons over the screws holding the handles on, off. What can I do to pop these buttons off?? Bathroom is about 20 years old and I don't think these handles have ever been removed. Please help?

I am trying to replace my old shower pan and have the tile removed, but there just seems to be some sandy looking stuff mixed with glue or something that made it harden, under the tile. Do I need to just dig further down? What is this stuff?

Help! It is ready to come out. Do I have to remove drain first. How do I remove pan? Pry it out or does it need to be cut with circular saw first? It is on upper floor of tri level not acessible from underneath. Thanks.
