I want to remove my fiberglass shower pan and build a new one for tiling. How do I remove the current shower pan. How is it fastened to the floor/drain?

Most fiberglass shower pans and held down by 2 things, 3 if you count gravity. The pan is set in thinset mortar and prying under it will eventually cause it to pop lose. The final connection is the drain and many of those are friction fit rubber collars on a 2" pvc drain pipe. Prying up will likely break that connection too unless there is an access hole to reach the shower trap from below, is there one?

If that does not work or if the base is not set in mortar you will need to cut a 6 inch circle around the shower strainer with a sawzall.

Then lift the old pan out and then disconnect the shower strainer from under the pan and diconnect the strainer from the pipe.

If rubber seal, could also screw in some screws about 1 to 2inches deep into the seal around the drain and then pull up on the screws to dislodge the seal from around the drain.

Then may be able to POP unit up and should be all set.

If in mortar like it SHOULD BE... you may still need to cut that circle around the strainer with sawzall, then pop unit up and out.

Be careful here, cause can lever that pan so it actually snaps the pipe off from underneath.

Anyway, just wanted to add my two cents... in case... ;)
