Attaching dogear fencing to chain link
Your previous suggestions help me tremendously attaching a wooden fence to
An existing chain link. At the top I drill a hole in chain link and attached a bolt and nut.

Your suggestion: attach a wood stringer(furring strip) on the other side of the chain
Link fence near the bottom thereby making a sandwich effect of the dogear fence piece works great. It pulled it in nice and tight.

But it's a little difficult. I have to hold a 12" furring strip by hand on the other side
Of the chain link fence while I pull it in tight with a screw. If I had some sort of
Clip that would hold the stringer in place(Even if it was temporary) while I screw
It in place, would be great. Fence staples don't work. I could loop an electric ties
Around the stringer to hold it in place, while I screw it down? Any ideas.

    Thanks for previous suggestions

Use a C clamp Stanley tools makes pairs of adjustable ones with a trigger handle, you squeeze the handle to move the jaws together then when you let go it stays tight until you want to release it.

If there is no wind break near your chain link fence, you might want to set some posts for the dog ear fence. We attached some panels to a chain link fence a few years ago like you're talking about. I think it was about 75' worth. A couple weeks later a strong storm came up and snatched the whole thing over. LOL We had to disconnect everything, set posts and attach the panels to the posts. Just a thought...

We have a beautiful cedar dog ear fence over our chain link fence. What we did was drill holes at the outer edge of the dog ear and then 1 foot from the bottom on each side of each board. We then ran 16 gauge galvanized wire through one board, around a fence wire, then forward through the next board, pulling them tightly together and on to the fence. Then twist with needle nose pliers to secure, tucking ends behind.
