    Bathtub Reinforcement
Ok here's my Dilema. I have a bathtub in an older house and the caulking on the ends keep cracking. Now its because of my weight and sons weight as every time we step in the tub, the tub itself sinks. Now under the tub is styrofoam and no support. Questions
    1. should there be supports
    2. what support would be best
    3. and how would I go about doing this.

    Thanks

While you didn't say, I'll bet you have a plastic or fiberglass tub. When we set a tub, other then a cast iron tub, we "puddle" cement under the tub base for support. You can get at the front of the tub to do this by opening up the tub access hole. However you may have to open up a wall to access the rear, unless your tub has a front apron that can be removed. Hope this helps andthank you for rating my reply. Tom

Ok sorry about that I forgot to post the kind of tub. Actually it is a Metal tub (brrr) and its on the second floor.. I will try some wood supports unless that is a bad thing.

    Thanks again
