Hello,

I have a simple question. I had a guy replacing the board on our hvac a few motnhs back to fix the heat. Today I turned on the AC for a first time this year and the outside unit did not start at all ( the fan on the inside unit is blowing ). I opened the system and I saw two wires going from the main system to the unit outside - a red one and a white one (twisted around the freon pipe). The red wire is not connected to anything, while the white wire is connected on the board to label "C". There are no empty slots on the front of the board, if this is important.

My question is - I assume the red wire turns the power to the outisde unit - where can I connect the red wire?

It's awfully hot and I stand no chance anyone seeing my system for a few days. Help would be greatly appreciated.

If you only have two low voltage wires going to the outside unit than yes the two will need to be wired up for it to work. You have the common wired up the red should go to Y on the control board. Turn power off going to the inside and outside units so you don't get hurt or blow a transformer when trying to wire.

This really helped me I replaced the board myself but a professional had jumpered it so I did not know how they were supposed to be :)
