    Holdover for Subletter in California
I am subletting my apartment during my semester abroad.
I am the only person on my lease agreement and have had full permission from my landlord to sublet my place. I have rented to 2 persons, one whose agreement expired on June 1.
As part of our agreement, the final month of rent was paid in lieu of deposit return. However, I have learned that this person still occupies the apartment and has not paid June rent to the landlord.
I received an email from her on June 4, only after receiving news from my other renter that she was still in the apartment. The email mentioned that she was only "half moved out" and offered some prorated deal.
Since she has not vacated as per our sublease contract, I don't think it unreasonable to request for the entire month of June.
Does the holdover rule apply to subrenters?

If she didn't leave as she was supposed to, I would hold her for the full month.

It's not likely you could re-rent to someone else for only half a month.
