Need the name of this country song - 80s or early 90s
OK I know this is a long shot but I have been looking for this song for ages... it's about a guy who takes care of a single mom and falls in love with her and they form a family and live happily ever after yadda yadda, the end. Any ideas? Everywhere I ask the only answers that come up are newer songs.. this is a song from the 80s or 90s. Any help much appreciated! ;-)

Sounds like "He Didn't Have to Be" by Brad Paisley, but I know that came out after the nineties... still thinking...

You said "takes care of a single mom", in what way exactly? I mean, is she old? Trying to get clues.

In the ending verse of the song, it says he ofter thinks about that summer, and about how when he passes a wheat field he can't help but feel her hungry arms again. So, the falling in love, and family, and happily ever after is not there.

At least we are trying, right? I know it isn't mine either.

The first older song I thought of was "I Won't Take Less Than Your Love" by Paul Overstreet, which is wrong as well.

Sorry for the lack of detail! I remember it being about a pretty young couple; young single mom. (the reason I'm looking is because it pretty much perfectly tells the story of my parents and I'd like to dance with my dad to it at my wedding.) so it's not so much a love song as a story about a hero-type guy who takes care of this woman in that in spite of everything he just sees past her having a kid, and falls in love with the kid and her. (I guess I should say he doesn't see her having a kid as a problem) he treats her the way she should be treated, and I think the song says something about her not being treated well before.. darn. Thanks for trying though!!
