    Stomach problems
My son is 22 and has been experiencing serious nausea cramping and sweats profusely when these attacks occur- the thing is we have had lots of test - first they said IBS from the colon test and then later that he did not - then he had upper gi's lower gi's.Cat scans etc. etc. Two years of testing - has anyone experienced this and not receive a "standard" diagnosis?

Hi - at the moment I am experiencing the same problems as your son. I, (like your son) have not been given a sound diagnosis. The doctor says I have pancreatitis but sometimes when I am admitted into hospital they say my amylase levels in my blood are not high enough to be causing the pain. The pain is horrific. I've noticed that mine is worse in the night or when I try to eat and drink (however small). When the pain is at its worse I sweat terribly, and nothing seems to soothe it as even trying to rub my tummy is painful. I will be requesting a colonoscopy, but so far I've had CT scans, X-rays, MRI scan, Loads of Endoscopies and blood tests and still had no reasuring results.
Does your son open his bowels regularly?
    Is his pain being managed?
I will be attending hospital soon and hope they can put my mind at ease - I've suffered with upper and lower GI pain for 3 years now. But the last five months have been agony.
I fully empathise with your son and your obvious worry.
My biggest mistake was to 'not ask enough questions' and 'leave it in their hands' - I can't afford to do that any longer as the pain is too great.
    Good luck
