Have we progressed enough in technology that someone wishing to become another gender can truly exchange there gender for the other one? Thought hormones and sexual reassignment surgery, can a male truly become a female? I ask this seemly obvious question, because in this topic, that does interest me quiet a bit, I've realised that a lot of the guys facial area/fetures still look quiet manly, and not femminine. Like, he's a guy with long hair, and breasts. Do people wishing to change there gender have facial surgery? I believe there 'adam's apple' is shaved down, but, I accually mean there facial fetures...

Interesting. Good answer really. A male cannot become a full female, in that respect, if a female is defined by one who can birth children, and in nature, it is...

Internally, gender cannot be changed. A woman cannot produce sperm, a male cannot produce eggs nor would they have uterus.

Externally, however, a transformed female can have sexual relations with a male and vice versa.

Yes a male can have facial reconstructive surgery usually to change the shape of the nose, eye sockets and jaw. I don't know how popular this is for a transgendered person to do. I suppose it depends on the amount of money they have and how happy they are with their appearance. I was reading about a woman who was a man in the army who had these procedures done the other day. I wout post it up though as it was just a tabloid sensationalist story not a decent piece of journalism.

I have to disagree with that one. Think about females- woman- who cannot have children because of various genetic or other medial problems. Are they not female?

In fact gender isn't as straight forward as male and female as is often perceived. There are many genetic problems that can leave a person stranded between the sexes. Klinefelter syndrom (XXY) being one to springs to mind but also male and female pseudohermaphroditism. It's a big field I am only partially aware of and sadly don't know much about it but you may find this of interest to look into yourself.

If you have a wider ranging interest of genders and gender assignment I suggest you look up other animals as these are fascinating.

I have seen a lot of trans gender surgeries, I believe there are some parts of the human being that can't be changed, like the width/size of a males shoulders, shaping of hips and waist lines, some males general head shape is generally wider than females, as well as arms, forearms, thickness of hands for instance and size of feet, that are not going to be changed by surgery. They can change other areas, and hopefully they will find comfort and happiness in their choices
